it’s not every weekend i get to shoot a wedding just ten minutes from home or run into friends from childhood performing as a surprise. it was a sticky day here in the south. i’ve never seen a dance floor so sweaty.

carly + josh were visiting the smoky mountains to celebrate their engagement. with a shared love of the outdoors, they decided to celebrate with a sunrise engagement session.
i woke up at 3am and drove over to the mountains to meet them in time for one of the haziest, most breathtakingly warm sunrises i’ve ever seen. I turned a playlist on and asked them to just wander and play. they chased each other through a field, walked arm in arm through the dewy grass, and held each other close.
